Christmas Fayre - Thank you!

Thank you to everyone that contributed to the very successful Christmas Fayre, last Friday. It truly was a festive occasion that has set the mood for the coming weeks. Events like this take a lot of organisation and commitment. The Friends committee did a sterling job and I would like to thank them for giving up their free time to put on this superb event.

Once again, the enterprise stalls were a very popular attraction. The children loved creating the products. They now have the excitement of deciding what they are going to purchase for their class.

The Friends' events raise vital funds for the school and, without everyone's support, the 'lovely extras' that we are able to provide just wouldn't be possible. So if you're on the committee, volunteered on a stall, came and spent your hard-earned money - thank you so much. It is greatly appreciated!

Have a lovely weekend!

News from our Friends

🎄 Christmas Fayre 2023 🎄

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU to everyone who helped with this year’s Christmas Fayre. To all of the Rodings staff members who helped with enterprise stalls and put up with us using their classrooms, to Mr Partridge, Mrs Paget and Mr Raraty for all their help in the run up to the event and on the day, to Mrs Scott and the Rodings Gallery team for helping with the turkeys and allowing us to use the kitchen. To Ms Wardle for all your help and the office team for letting us invade your space! To Great Garnetts for donating the turkeys and sausage meat, to Mr Knight for donating Robert the Carrot, to Libby Stratton for creating and donating the amazing Christmas Cake, to Little Art Garden Centre for donating the ‘barrel’ for our barrel of booze, to the Co-Op in Great Dunmow for donating the mince pies, to Toy Box Saffron Walden for donating toys, to all the businesses who donated raffle prizes and to Town Farm for supplying us with such amazing Christmas Trees! To our incredible Friends committee who not only worked their socks off on the day but also in the weeks of planning beforehand, and not forgetting Richard for delivering all the trees! To our amazing Friends helpers who turned up, often with family members in tow, to roll up their sleeves and help, especially Tory Foster and the extended Foster family for creating such a magical grotto, the giant Christmas tree sign and numerous other tasks! And finally to each and every one of you who came along..….we hope to have raised around £3,800 which is just INCREDIBLE!

We are so very lucky to be supported by so many brilliant people, the Christmas Fayre really demonstrates the very best of Rodings and we’re so grateful to be a part of it. So THANK YOU! What a fantastic start to the festive season!!

Forest School Needs You!!

We had another beautiful, sunny morning in the forest this week! We started with a story about how people long ago celebrated the Winter Solstice.  We talked about why people bring greenery into their homes- holly and ivy and Christmas trees, things that we still do now! Then the Goslings made their own tiny Christmas trees! They all had a go at hand drilling the wood to make a base for them, it was tricky but they kept going and did so well!
Then we had more apple juice, warmed on the fire, back by popular request!

“Every child deserves the magic of Christmas!”

As families decorate their tree and prepare for Father Christmas to visit, it’s hard to believe there are children of all ages across Essex who have never experienced Christmas before. Foster carers Sheila and her husband are bringing the magic of Christmas to vulnerable children in care. Watch her video to hear her heart-warming story of how they are restoring the childhood magic of Christmas time.

We carefully match children to your family and support you every step of the way. Could you consider fostering and transform a child’s life?

Visit www.essex.gov.uk/foster or call 0800 801 530 to find out more.
