Christmas is coming... Tickets will soon be available!

With December around the corner, I thought I would update you regarding ticket allocations for the Nativity and details for the Key Stage 2 Christmas Carols.

Our Key Stage 1 Nativity will be a ticketed event. This is due to the number of children in EYFS and KS1 and possible adults that may like to come and watch. We are limited to how many people are allowed in the hall because of fire regulations, so this year we will be checking tickets at each event. The Grandparents' Performance will only be for EYFS and KS1 grandparents only. Again, this will be ticketed for grandparents only.

Key Stage 2 will hold their Christmas Carol concert outside. No tickets will be required for this. However, if the weather is bad we will have to cancel this event. KS2 is very large this year, and we wouldn't be able to fit everyone in the hall. Also, with other events going on at school, we wouldn't be able to postpone it to another date either.

More ticket information and how to apply will be with you next week.

Positive Communication

We are very fortunate that the Rodings family is a very supportive and understanding community. However, when dealing with over 200 families, there will be times when things go wrong and parents may have concerns about some of the decisions we have made for the benefit of the whole school.

In the last couple of weeks, I have had to deal with several incidents where Rodings staff have not been spoken to or messaged in the most respectful way. This has included being shouted at and sworn at. We fully understand that there are times when parents may be frustrated by decisions that we make. However, please communicate in a way that is respectful and appropriate.

This extends to WhatsApp groups as well. Although they may be considered private, the contents of these groups often get back to us, particularly if others feel that comments are unfair or unjustified. If you have concerns or questions, please get in contact with us so that you get the actual facts rather than stories that have changed through WhatsApp whispers.

Finally, any discussion or criticism of a child in a WhatsApp group is unacceptable.

My door is always open, so please get in touch if you have any concerns.

Christmas Fayre

Next Friday is our wonderful Christmas Fayre. Once again, there will be amazing activities to do, as well as food and drink and, most importantly, Father Christmas. You will be able to buy your real Christmas tree direct from us (see the flyer below). We did this for the first time last year and the quality was amazing.

Friday will be Christmas Jumper Day for a donation of £1. I look forward to lots of Christmas cheer next week!

Have a lovely weekend!

Forest School Needs You!!

At Rodings we are so lucky to have the use of a beautiful, ancient woodland for our Forest School sessions, only 10 minutes from school! The children gain so much from going there, it is magical to see how being in such a special place can transform a child in so many ways.

But Forest School cannot happen- I mean we literally can't run the sessions- without volunteers! We are really fortunate to have a small group of amazing volunteers, but we are always on the look out for more people! Even if you can't commit to every Wednesday, it would be great to have a bank of helpers that we can call on when needed! We promise it will be fun, and there will be biscuits !!

Thankyou

Mrs George and Mrs Simpkins.????

Last weekend Seamus became 3 time Southern Region England Oireachtas Chanmpion. Having won in 2021 & 2022, the challenge was there to defend his title and so he did.

Sunday night he danced with 14 champion dancers from his own dance school and more than 40 other champions in a celebratory parade from the weekends competition!

He also became a 3 time world qualifier and will be dancing at the World Championships in Glasgow in March 2024.

Congratulations Seamus!

What a year 2023 has been!

We’re looking forward to seeing what 2024 holds!

Wow, Seamus,  we are so very proud of you :-)

Back in December 2019 my husband and father of 3 young children unfortunately got an infection on his brain called Adem Encephalitis. This wasn’t diagnosed until weeks down the line. After being in hospital for a number of months, he was transferred to a rehabilitation unit where we all thought he would recover, then would return to a normal life.  Unfortunately, this wasn't the case.  He then got a secondary infection leading him to another 5 months in hospital from pneumonia. For the 5 months he was in hospital the doctors said he will not make it.  He returned to rehabilitation to be told this was Paul now and he will not recover any further.  We have had him home now for 2 years with having bed baths and recently deteriorating, which has lead to a tracheotomy.  He has 24 hour care with having bed baths in our living room we feel he deserves a private room and wet room. He would have his own privacy to be able to have time out, a wet room, and hopefully try and rehabilitate him a bit more as we will never give up hope. Let’s help him lead a better quality of life as he deserves.  I will upload daily updates on tik tok, Facebook and instagram. Please follow us. Thank you all so much
