It's that time of year when winter illnesses start spreading far and wide. We are getting several enquires a week asking what the best thing to do is when a child is ill; keep them off or send them to school.  Obviously, this depends on each child and we provide advice on a case by case scenario. However, Essex County Council and the NHS have got together to create and publish this really handy guide for parents about when a child is okay to attend school when they are ill with the most common childhood illnesses. Bookmark this guide or print it and keep it somewhere safe.

X-County Competition

I had the pleasure of taking the Key Stage 2 x-county team to a competition at Great Easton today. Although we don't know the final team scores yet, the whole squad did Rodings proud. Their behaviour was amazing, and they supported and encouraged each other to do their best on a long, cold and muddy course. Well done to every single runner. You smashed it!

Have a lovely weekend!

This week at Forest School...????

The sun shone for the Goslings this week and we loved how pretty it looked shining through the leaves.

We had a busy morning- we started off with a bit of mindfulness, then some of us made a shelter with a tarpaulin and string. We thought about how to make it strong and if it would protect us from the rain and wind!

We did some digging and found lots of different creatures- I was so impressed with how much care the Goslings took with them, to handle them gently and put them back where they came from.

Goslings have settled in so well to the forest, I can't wait for next week!

Henry, Louie and McKenzie all had a fantastic forest school afternoon at Great Easton this week. Cooking marshmallows, climbing trees, making fires, playing on swings and having a much-needed rest in the hammocks.

Thank you to Miss Allen and Mrs George for taking the children.

Back in December 2019 my husband and father of 3 young children unfortunately got an infection on his brain called Adem Encephalitis. This wasn’t diagnosed until weeks down the line. After being in hospital for a number of months, he was transferred to a rehabilitation unit where we all thought he would recover, then would return to a normal life.  Unfortunately, this wasn't the case.  He then got a secondary infection leading him to another 5 months in hospital from pneumonia. For the 5 months he was in hospital the doctors said he will not make it.  He returned to rehabilitation to be told this was Paul now and he will not recover any further.  We have had him home now for 2 years with having bed baths and recently deteriorating, which has lead to a tracheotomy.  He has 24 hour care with having bed baths in our living room we feel he deserves a private room and wet room. He would have his own privacy to be able to have time out, a wet room, and hopefully try and rehabilitate him a bit more as we will never give up hope. Let’s help him lead a better quality of life as he deserves.  I will upload daily updates on tik tok, Facebook and instagram. Please follow us. Thank you all so much

Scarlett and Marni will be appearing in a video segment about a child they know with Tourettes, this will be shown on Children in need on Friday.

The segment has also already been shown on BBC Breakfast!

This is a piece to raise awareness for the charity Tourettes Action and the work they do for Children with Tourettes.

Children in need part fund, along with Tourettes action, Events for Children with Tourettes to allow them a space to meet others like them and have fun!

We are so proud of our girls for always speaking openly about Tourettes, raising much needed awareness and also for teaching the world that it's not what you think!

Wow, girls, we are so very proud of you :-)
