From the desk of Mr Crawley

Happy half-term to you all!

I promise I will try and keep this brief as there is so much to scroll through this week.

We have had an incredible day at school today with lots of fun activities going on in our classrooms, all in order to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. As you will have seen on Class Dojo we had our street party lunch on the playground, which a lot of hard work went into. I'd like to offer a huge thank you to all the staff who helped give the children a really memorable day.

Today was Mrs Donald's last day with us. Mrs Donald has worked at Rodings Primary for 22 years and has helped many children during her time here. We all wish her the very best for the future.

We recently advertised for a new parent governor to fill a vacant position on our Governing board. I am delighted to say that after lots of interest, Claire Stockman has been appointed as a Governor at Rodings. We are excited about the support and experience that she will bring, and we are looking forward to welcoming to her to our next meeting.

Also, preparations are well underway for our Summer Fete. Please read my message on Class Dojo about volunteering.

Lastly, a huge thank you to you all for your support this half-term, It's been action packed! Have a lovely week, and I'm looking forward to seeing you in a weeks time (on Tuesday!)

Mr. C

Thank You to the Allotment Crew

Over the past couple of weeks a small crew of volunteers, lead by Penny Frost, have been busy weeding, digging and sorting our allotment ready for use. As you can see from the pictures they have done a great job. We are at the stage where we can start planting and growing which is amazing. To help us make the best of the space, we would like the following donations, if you have anything spare at home.

This includes:

  • Garden hose
  • Hose spray head
  • Compost
  • Spare seeding or mature vegetable plants

The allotment is an important part of the school, and we are really looking forward to getting it up and running properly. However, it does take a lot of time to maintain, so we are looking for someone to share our allotment with us.

Are you looking for an allotment space or do you know someone that is?

You would have access to the space at weekends and holidays and after school and the children would use it during the school day for lessons and gardening clubs.  We would share the produce between the school and yourself.

As it is a school space we would need to do safeguarding checks and there would need to be an understanding that small hands will be using the space as well.

If you are interested please email me at mr.raraty@rodingsprimary.co.uk
