Dunmow Excellence in Education Partnership – DEEP

As a school, we work closely with ten other local schools to provide enrichment opportunities for the children, training for staff, sharing resources, as well as providing support and encouragement for each other.

Although the partnership has been going for over 10 years, DEEP is supercharging itself to provide even more opportunities for all our school communities over the coming years.

This year we are very excited to be training our own teachers, developing our own initial teacher training with the support of West Essex SCITT. Our first eight trainees have made a fantastic start to their training. We will be starting the recruitment process for 2026 trainees very soon, so if you are interested in training to be a teacher, look out for flyers which will be published soon.

Our other focus is expanding the opportunities for our children. This year we have planned an exciting variety of different enrichment activities across all year groups, using the different skills and expertise of staff in the ten schools. Some opportunities will be for just a few children, whilst others will involve larger groups. So if your child receives an invitation to an event with the DEEP logo they are in for a lovely experience.

The 2 Johns - Online safety Parent Workshop

Thursday 16th October 8pm - virtual

Working with DEEP, we have been able to secure nationally recognised experts on children’s online safety: The 2 Johns.

If you only attend one parent workshop this year, please make this the one you attend. Online safety is of growing importance, our children’s ‘Stranger Danger’. I can not stress enough how important the information within the workshop is.

Welcome back to a new school year and welcome to all our new Rodings families. We hope everyone is settling in well.

The Friends met for the first meeting of the school year this week and have lots of wonderful things planned for the year ahead which we will update you all on shortly.

Friends AGM 30^th September 7pm

The Friends AGM will be held at 7pm on the 30^th September in the school hall (please see the poster below for details). It is really important as many of you as possible attend as we need to have a minimum number of people attending in order to make our quorate as a charity so if we are unable to make this we are unable to carry on putting on events.

There will be no obligation to participate in anything, we just need a head count!

On Friday the 10^th October we will be holding our very popular family Bingo night! More details to come but keep the date free.

When signing up please select “Friends of Rodings Primary School” (there are a couple of other Rodings schools!). Once you are signed up you can access websites through the app or if shopping in your browser Easy Fundraising will ask you if you want to donate, this doesn’t make any difference to the cost of your shopping but a percentage of anything you spend will go directly to the school.

George has been working so hard towards his next Karate grading and was invited to take part on Sunday. George was over the moon to pass and has now moved onto Orange belt - well done George, you were amazing and we’re so proud of you!
