What a successful week we have had! Firstly, our athletics team came second in the Uttlesford area competition for large schools. This is such a great achievement. Congratulations to all our athletes for showing great sportsmanship and representing Rodings brilliantly.
Secondly, R-Fest has been a huge success! The quality of the artwork, dancing, singing and music was just incredible. Particular thanks go to Mrs Coates-Reynolds for such fantastic organisation and enthusiasm to get everything together. A special edition newsletter will be published soon.
What a wonderful way to celebrate so much artistic talent!
Parking and Traffic - Serious Incidents
This week, we have had two very close calls involving parking and traffic at collection time.
The first involved a child with their parent, crossing the road at the end of the day when the child was narrowly missed by a car driven by a member of the public. The car was so close to hitting the child, the child felt the force of the speed of the car on their skin. The incident wasn’t helped by the way some cars were parked outside of school, creating blind spots.
The second incident involved a member of the public and one of our school minibuses. A member of the public was driving past the school when a minibus tried to leave the exit gates. Not being able to see properly due to the parking around the school exit gates, the minibus almost ‘t-boned’ the local resident in their car.
Once again, I’m asking that those having to drive to school think carefully about where they park. Please use home to school transport if you qualify, car share to reduce the number of cars outside the school or if you are in Leaden, walk or cycle to school rather than using your car.
I will continue to investigate viable solutions to make parking safer outside the school with our local partners.
We are getting closer and closer to having a major accident. The last thing I want to do is publish sad news in a future newsletter.
Thank you!
Entry into School
Just a reminder that children should enter the school through their designated entrance. This is to reduce bottlenecks but also so younger children don’t get overwhelmed by the older children.
The arrangements are:
Field gate - Goslings, Sparrows, Swift, Wrens and Woodpeckers.
Front entrance - Doves, Hummingbirds, Kingfishers, Kookaburras and Toucans
Exceptions will be made for selected families.
Thanks for your understanding!
Photo Consent
Please keep an eye out for an email from Mrs Paget about the changes in regulations to photo consent. In brief, we no longer need to seek consent to take and use photographs. The email goes into a lot more detail and what action you need to take if you don't want photographs taken of your child.
Have a lovely weekend!
