Dear families,

I hope that you all had a restful and eggcellent (sorry!) Easter break. It was lovely to see the children on Tuesday, who seem to have grown so much in two weeks. I can't believe we have reached the summer term already! Summer term also means that we are coming into the season with lots of lovely summer events. Please keep an eye on the website for the most up-to-date information about events and dates. They will also appear below.

We have had to make one change to previously published dates. Due to this half-term being very short, we have made the decision to move the next set of Learning Consultations to Wednesday 4th June and Thursday 5th June. More details will be published nearer the time.

Breakfast Club

We have completed the first week of our new Breakfast Club and so far, so good. We have had up to 90 children a day joining us in the morning. This is a government sponsored pilot so we will be adapting things as we go. Now we have a clearer idea of numbers, one change we are making now is that you can now book the children in three days in advance rather than the two weeks. Please do this through Arbor.

Have a lovely weekend!

Welcome back! We hope you had a wonderful Easter break. We’ve got lots of exciting events coming up in the Summer term,  please ensure you keep the dates free.

Colour Run 16th May

We are very excited to see the return of the Rodings Rainbow Run on the 16th May from 3.30-5pm. This event runs on the Friday after SATs week so please come along and help the Year 6’s blow off some steam and celebrate. Tickets are on sale on Arbor now and closes on Friday 9th May. Unfortunately we do have to be really strict with this cut-off date as we need to ensure there is enough paint and glasses for everyone to have fun and be safe.

Children do need parental supervision for this event but you do not have to participate if you do not want to (but you are very welcome to join in if you wish). There will be drinks, snacks and an ice cream van to keep you entertained (as well as watching your children get covered in paint!).

If you are available on the afternoon of the event we do need some help from volunteers. We need help setting up from 1.30, during the event (3.30-5pm) and help with clearing up after the event. If you feel you can help at all please contact us by email (friendsofrodings@gmail.com)

Summer Fayre 14th June

We are starting to plan our Summer Fayre (14th June – put it in the diary!) and were hoping some lovely Rodings parents might be able to donate some fabulous raffle prizes!? The raffle does generate a lot of income for us so we would love to be able to give out some wonderful prizes. If you have a prize you would like to donate or if you or your company would like to sponsor a prize please get in touch by emailing friendsofrodings@gmail.com.

To aid in the planning for the Fayre, it would be really useful to know how many volunteers we have during the day. If you feel you can give us an hour (or more) on the day please email the above email address and let us know your availability.

Penny War Winners

And the winners were…Sparrows. They received their special treat today of delicious ice creams delivered by JB Ices. Well done Sparrows and thank you to JB Ices for supporting us again.

Skirt/trouser hanger appeal

We are trying to do more pre-loved uniform sales and have realised we are quite short of skirt (clippy) hangers. If you have any you no longer need please pass them on to us!

Easy Fundraising

If you are planning on booking a holiday (or doing any online shopping) please consider using Easy Fundraising for your bookings. Many holiday companies are part of Easy Fundraising, allowing you to donate to your school while booking your holiday.

To sign up go to www.easyfundraising.org.uk - download the app or sign up on your browser. When signing up please select “Friends of Rodings Primary School” (there are a couple of other Rodings schools!). Once you are signed up you can access websites through the app or if shopping in your browser Easy Fundraising will ask you if you want to donate, this doesn’t make any difference to the cost of your shopping but a percentage of anything you spend will go directly to the school.

School Lottery

As some of you already know, we are a member of Your School Lottery. If you would like to support this you can sign up here: https://www.yourschoollottery.co.uk/lottery/school/rodings-primary-school. This is an easy way to support the school and you might be a winner!

Hi Everyone,

We are holding another Charity Football Match in Memory of my husband & the boys dad, after a hugely successful event 2 years ago where we raised over 5k for MIND West Essex.  We are hoping to raise a similar amount this year, this time for C.A.L.M, which is a Men's mental health charity.

We are looking for raffle donations from any local businesses if possible after having a fab raffle last year, so if anyone can offer any vouchers or services it would be greatly appreciated.  We are also holding a toy stall, so any unwanted toys in good condition would be gratefully received too.   I can be contacted on 07980404956 if so.

Alternatively it would be lovely to see as many people there for support on what will hopefully be another lovely day.

There is also a justgiving link for anyone that wants to donate :)

Thank you, Ruth, Toby, Benjamin & Ollie
