We have reached the end of the Spring term and what a busy time it has been. With the various enrichment days, numerous sporting events, trips and visitors, it really has been an exciting and inspiring time.

As usual, we celebrated all those people that have gone above and beyond in our end of term Effort Cup assembly. We had so much to celebrate this time, assembly lasted over 45 minutes.

House Cup Winners

Well, DeVeres (yellow house) did it and retained the House Cup for the second term in a row. They won with an impressive 2330 points. Keeping with tradition, they will have a non-uniform day on Friday 25th April.

Congratulations DeVeres!

Breaktime Snacks

In an effort to promote healthy eating and reduce the amount of plastic that is used in school, only the following snacks will be allowed for breaktime from after Easter.

  • Fruit or veg
  • Two plain biscuits (digestive or rich tea - no chocolate)
  • Yoghurt either in a pot or a sachet
  • Rice crackers

Over the last year we have seen an increase in sweet snacks or oversized packets of crisps. If a child brings in crisps, sweets or chocolate, this will be replaced with fruit and with the snack from home being returned to them at the end of the day.

We really appreciate your support in this as we try to promote a healthier and balanced lifestyle, and at the same time, reduce the amount of plastic and litter in school.

Penny Wars Winner

The Friends' Penny Wars competition was a huge success, raising over £850 which will go towards playground improvements.

The winning class was...

Year 1- Sparrows

As a reward, the Friends have organised an ice cream van to visit Sparrows the first Friday back after half term.  Congratulations Sparrows!

Start saving those pennies for Penny Wars 2026!

Thank you so much for all your support and encouragement over the last term. It really is appreciated!

Have a lovely Easter break and we will see you on Tuesday 22nd April.

Yesterday, we had two children competing at the Essex Schools Cross-Country event in Southend! Having qualified from the Uttlesford finals, Eliza (year 3) and Albie (year 4) had to opportunity to race with the best of Essex! They both ran their races, brilliantly, both finishing 43rd with over 100 entrants! Well done!

We have had 2 brilliant weeks in Gardening Club.

The children have been weeding, mixing in compost, planting cucumbers, tomatoes and radish in the polytunnel and potting up the wonderful tree saplings we have been donated (that are for sale).

Next term Gardening Club will officially start and we can't wait.  We are aiming to grow courgettes, pumpkins, leeks, tomatoes, carrots, potatoes.

If anyone would be willing to donate the following we would be very grateful:

  • Bags of compost
  • Bags of manure
  • Non invasive perennial flowers (if you happen to be splitting any of your plants, we seem to have a few gaps in our flower bed)
  • We would love any spare vegetable seedlings that you might have that are different to the ones already listed above.

Thank you so much.

Happy Easter!

School Disco 2nd April

What a brilliant evening the children had on Wednesday, our ears are still ringing!! The children were entertained by Natalie from the fantastic Moji Entertainer who was amazing as always. It was so lovely seeing all the children enjoying themselves together and they were all very well behaved!

Pre-loved Uniform Sale 25th April

We will be holding a pre-loved uniform sale in the playground after school on the 25th April. Please come along and purchase those missing uniform items you need to get you through the last term of the year. We are not currently accepting any pre-loved uniform but once we sell some we will be asking for any gaps.

We are planning on getting a shed to keep the uniform in and so we can have more regular sales. If you know anyone who might want to sponsor or support this sustainable project please do get in touch.

Colour Run 16th May

We are very excited to announce the return of the Rodings Colour Run on the 16th May. Following the success of last year we can’t wait to do it all again! The event will be after school and tickets will be on sale after Easter. This is a pre-book only even as we have to know numbers in advance so please do book early to avoid disappointment – we will let you know via all normal channels when the tickets are on sale.

Easy Fundraising

If you are planning on booking a holiday (or doing any online shopping) please consider using Easy Fundraising for your bookings. Many holiday companies are part of Easy Fundraising, allowing you to donate to your school while booking your holiday.

To sign up go to www.easyfundraising.org.uk - download the app or sign up on your browser. When signing up please select “Friends of Rodings Primary School” (there are a couple of other Rodings schools!). Once you are signed up you can access websites through the app or if shopping in your browser Easy Fundraising will ask you if you want to donate, this doesn’t make any difference to the cost of your shopping but a percentage of anything you spend will go directly to the school.

School Lottery

As some of you already know, we are a member of Your School Lottery. If you would like to support this you can sign up here: https://www.yourschoollottery.co.uk/lottery/school/rodings-primary-school. This is an easy way to support the school and you might be a winner!

Indie and Isla performed at The Pump House theatre in Watford at a drama festival. The girls were amazing in performing an improv piece.

They were so confident, and their piece was brilliant.

Well done Indie and Isla, we are so proud of you both :-)

Together with their group, Annie, Alice and Stan competed in the Epping Forest Dance Festival last Saturday and won first place in the Junior Tap competition!
