Parent Governor Results

Thank you to everyone who returned a vote for the Parent Governor election. The votes have been counted and verified and I am pleased to announce that Natasha Simpson was voted onto the Governing Board, taking up her post from April. We look forward to working with Natasha in the future.

I’d like to thank all those that put a nomination forward. Your interest and eagerness to support the school is greatly appreciated. The fact we had so many interested parents is a testament to the support we receive from our community and the care and interest stakeholders have in Rodings.

Young Shakespeare Company

On Thursday, we had a visit from the Young Shakespeare Company who gave a performance of  ‘A midsummer Night’s Dream’ to Year 4, 5 and 6.

Here is a review by Henry in Kingfisher class.

It was stunning, absolutely stunning! The enthusiasm was epic, the drama was dramatic and silliness was superb. My favourite actor was Bottom because he was so funny and I also liked the other actor, Max, because he was so overdramatic and also very silly. I liked that! Also, the play was good because they let lots of people join in and the sound effects were very good. The play was called A Midsummer Night’s Dream. It had only four actors which was very, very, very impressive and amazing.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mr Raraty

On Monday 17th March the Teaching & Learning Committee met for their second meeting of the school year. As its title suggests this meeting focuses on topics centered around the delivery of teaching in the school and Miss Beard kindly joined us to provide an update on Early Years.

The governors were firstly given an overview on the approach to the children's induction into Reception and initial assessment . This assessment is used as the baseline from which all progress through to Year 6 is tracked. It covers a series of Early Learning Goals which are then formally assessed at the end of Year R. We then visited Miss Beard's classroom where she explained the set up and some of the great experiences the children are having. Miss Beard updated us on some important research on the approach to EY and how the team are working on developing the provision further going forwards.

Following this Mr Raraty gave us an overview on the planning and current working approach for the Pilot of the Breakfast Club which will start in the Summer Term and initially run for 3 terms. Details for this have now been shared with parents, and we look forward to getting started after Easter.

We also heard about the progress on the installation of a beautiful new learning space which has been installed in an unused area. The staff are looking forward to making use of it once completed.

The voting in the election for our new parent governor closed last Friday. Thank you to all of the candidates for standing for nomination (and parents for voting), we look forward to welcoming our new governor to the next Full Governing Board in April.

Have a lovely weekend!

Leeann Goddard - Vice Chair on behalf of the Governing Board

In Year 6 we have been studying the artist Clarice Cliff.  The children have designed and painted their own Clarice Cliff inspired plates and have even made their own cup and saucer. These will be on show in the Create exhibition later in the year.

Yesterday afternoon, 8 boys from years 5 and 6 travelled to Takeley Primary School to play a match against Takeley's A team; the boys all played brilliantly, showing some real skill and determination.
