I have some very exciting news to share! Mrs B and her husband are expecting their second child in July of this year. Everyone at Rodings is delighted for Mrs B and very excited to meet Baby Brown in the summer. We wish Mrs B all the best over the next couple of months.

Parent Governor Elections

Just a reminder that there is still time to vote in the Parent Governor elections. Votes must be with us by 3pm on Friday 21st March. Please follow the instructions on the ballot paper carefully to mark your envelopes. The envelopes must be marked correctly to be counted as a valid vote.

Attendance Letters

Please be aware that the next round of attendance letters will be issued over the next few days following the half-termly attendance review.

Senior Mental Health Leads

I'm proud to announce that Mrs B and Miss Yiu have completed their Senior Mental Health Leads training and will be implementing a detailed action plan to raise the profile of mental health support and provision across the school. This is an exciting next step in recognising what we already provide for children and adults but also on how we can make it even better.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mr Raraty

The Woodpeckers had a fantastic day at Saffron Walden Museum on Wednesday as part of our Ancient Egypt topic.

We spent the morning having a chance to handle and sketch real Egyptian artefacts to help us learn more about Ancient Egyptian beliefs about the afterlife. We then had a go at mummifying a tomato, whilst also mummifying one of our classmates!

In the afternoon, we had the chance to explore the museum. We looked at the Ancient Egyptian and Early History exhibition (making links to our last topic Stone Age to Iron Age) and saw the other fascinating exhibits the museum had to offer.

The Woodpeckers represented Rodings brilliantly and we had a lot of fun too!

Disclaimer: No Woodpeckers were harmed during the making of this mummy!

Look at the wonderful 'All About Me' flowers that the children made in the KS2 Mindfulness Arts & Crafts Club.

Miss Allen and Mrs Kilpatrick have some wonderful things lined up for the children over the coming weeks.  Thank you to you both :-)

Year 5/6 Hockey

On Wednesday 12th March, 10 children from year 5 and 6 went to Joyce Frankland in Newport to play in the USSP Hockey Tournament. The children played 6 games in total against some very well-practised schools. Despite a chilly morning, the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves and played well.

Year 5 Girl's Football

This afternoon (Friday 14th) a team of 7 girls from year 5 went to Dunmow St Mary's to play in a girls football competition run by the sports partnership against local schools. The girls had a great time, playing brilliantly and securing 4th place! Well done!

The last couple of weeks at Forest School have been jam packed as usual !

Following the Goslings' interests, we had a Bigfoot themed session last week- we found some clues that told us a bit about Bigfoot, including a smily mud portrait that he/she had left for us ! We decided to leave our own mud portraits on the trees so that Bigfoot could see what we looked like!

Sparrows had a whole lot of fun with a forest pancake obstacle race, and this week Goslings were mostly very excited about Campfire Doughnuts- which they tried for the first time and loved !!
