Welcome to our new format newsletter which is linked and generated through our new school website. Hopefully, this new layout will make it easier for you to view it on your mobile phone and other devices. It will also enable us to incorporate more content. We hope that you enjoy it!

We have baby news! A huge congratulations to Mrs B and her husband who are expecting their first child in the early autumn. We are over the moon for you both and wish you all the best for the future. Sending all our love from the Rodings team!

Kiss & Drop

Just a short reminder to how Kiss & Drop works in the mornings.
We have noticed a few things lately and would really appreciate it if we can all adhere to the same guidelines.

Please ensure you stay with your child until a member of staff is positioned on the School Zebra Crossing this will be no earlier than 8.30am, you can then send them on their way confident that they are in the safe hands of the staff.

When pulling into the school, please stick to no more than 5mph, and use all 3 lanes to drop your children off. Make your way as far down each lane as possible, if you’re using the lanes on the far side please escort your children across the road.

We have seen more and more that some parents are dropping their children in what I would call the live lane, please only use the three lanes that we have provided.

As always thank you for your cooperation in helping us to keep your children safe.

Mr Clements

Year 6 Trip to Duxford

Last week Flamingos went off on adventure to Duxford Imperial War Museum, where they were set a task by SMASH TV. The children had to research three important exhibits, which were all relating to World War 2, that they felt should not be lost! The children then recorded their own documentary on these exhibits. Once they were recorded they were sent to us, and we have been able to enjoy watching them in class. We clearly have some future stars on the screen in the making!

Science Challenge Day

On Monday 14th March 2022 we held a Science Challenge Day to mark the start of British Science Week. The children gathered in the hall to be split into House Point groups and then moved around the school to experience a variety of fun, hands-on Science activities.

There were eight different activities which included: making an antibody origami; exploring bubbles; outdoor gym; building a nest for a Gentoo penguin; optical illusions; discovering the hidden world of worms; making slime and constructing a parachute to get an egg safely to the ground.

Before Christmas, Jay was invited by Tottenham Hotspur soccer school to start playing in their advanced level. His coach has been so pleased with him and he feels very confident that with the talent and the great attitude he shows that Jay could hopefully soon progress into the Tottenham Academy at Enfield. He has been playing for the soccer school every Friday for a few years now and has never missed one session (apart from in lockdown). He's always so eager to play his beloved footy.  He also plays for the grassroots team Manuden Rockets Under 10's which he loves!

We are all so chuffed at how he's doing with his football and wanted to share this news with you.

The 2nd photo is Jay with the Spurs Head Coach.

Well done Jay, we are so proud of you as well :-)

Luna and her Afghan Hound D'Hari achieved a blue rosette in the Good Citizen category at Crufts last week.

Luna practices her handling skills with five-year-old D’Hari when they go out for walks. She also does ringcraft and practices at local open and champ shows.

It is her job to feed D’Hari and their other dogs, as well as letting them out in the garden first thing.

Luna is also in charge of picking all the leaves and twigs out of D’Hari’s fur when they’ve been out in the woods.

This year was the 131st year of Crufts, the largest dog show of its kind in the world, organised by The Kennel Club.

Well done Luna, we are so proud of you :-)
