Parent Survey

It was lovely to see so many of you this week for Learning Consultations. I hope it gave you a good insight into how your child has settled into their new year group and the relationships they are developing with the class teacher and the staff and children that work with them.

As usual, I was sitting in the front office, and it was lovely to see the happy faces and hear the lovely comments.

We would like to capture some of these comments so below is the link to our annual parent survey. We always value your feedback, so please take the time to complete the survey.

There are three sections to this year's survey. General questions about the school, a section on communication and then a section on clubs and enrichment. We will make the results public once the survey has been reviewed by the senior leadership team and the Governing Board. The closing date for comments is Monday 31st October. Thank you!

Attendance

The Governing Board has set an attendance target of 97% this year. As we head into the winter season, it is expected the level of illness will increase with the change in season. Although covid restrictions have been lifted, we need to be conscious that covid is still about and an increasing issue. The current recommendation is that if you test positive, children should be off for three days and adults for 5 days.

We are also experiencing a lot of requests for absence. Please be reminded that I can only authorise holidays in ‘exceptional circumstances’ and no holidays can be authorised during September or assessments periods.

We will be conducting our attendance review next week and anyone who is classed as a persistent absentee will be contacted. I’ve also included the following infographic about punctuality.

If you are struggling with attendance or punctuality, please get in touch, and we can come up with a plan to help.

Year 6 - Secondary School Applications

Just a reminder that secondary school applications for Year 6 close on the Monday 31st October 2022. Any applications received after this time will go to the bottom of the pile.

Open Day - Reception 2023

We will be holding our open morning for Reception intake 2023 on Thursday 3rd November at 10am. Our Year 6 will give you a tour of the school followed by my Headteacher's talk at 10:45.

Have a lovely weekend!

School News

Today children from Year 4/5/6 went to a sporting event at Felsted School. We took part in a Boccia and a curling tournament.

Rodings, as always, made us proud with their sportsmanship and effort. We really enjoyed our afternoon taking part in some new and exciting sports! Well done Rodings!
