Goslings - Well done!

We have welcomed all of our new Gosling children this week and they have settled so well. It has been so lovely to see them establish their new school routines and build new friendships with their classmates and teachers. We are very proud of them and we all look forward to them becoming an integral part of the Rodings family. Well done, Goslings!

Defib News

Last July, Mr Crawley, myself and an amazing group of parents and teachers completed a 24 hour cycle challenge to raise money for a defibrillator for the school. The local community was so generous in their donations that we were able to fund two further machines for the local community. Last week Margaret Roding Parish Council installed their defib. We received the following message:

On behalf of Margaret Roding parish council, thank you very much for the grant which covers the cost of installing a defib in Margaret Roding. For various reasons it has taken us a bit of time to get it sorted, however today we were able to finally set it up and place the defib in the cabinet. The equipment is located in The Gossetts car park, the most central point in Margaret Roding. I have attached a photograph below.

Thank you

Allison

Clerk to Margaret Roding Parish Council

Some Gentle Reminders

  • Lessons start at 8:45 - children should be in their seats ready for registration at this time. As we complete our registers electronically the first lesson also starts at this time. We have a significant number of children that are arriving at 8:45am or after. Please remember anything before 9am is classed as late and any arrivals after 9am are an unauthorised late and will show in attendance figures.

  • When dropping off or collecting your child, if the school gates are closed, please don’t open them to let yourself in. This is for safeguarding reasons and monitoring who is on site. Gates can only be opened by school staff. Please could you also adhere to the one way system for kiss and drop and collection.

School Visits

Enriching the Rodings Curriculum with visits and visitors is an important part of the experience we want to offer the children that attend our school. We always endeavour to make them as cost effective as possible but we are also aware that the cost of living is having an impact on people’s finances. However, we don’t want to reduce or stop the number of visits we offer, as we believe it is vital that children experience as much as possible so that they can discover their own interests and talents. With this in mind, we will be extending the period of time available to pay for visits. Ideally, we would like trips to be paid for by the end of the term that happen in but must be cleared by the end of the academic year. However, if costs are not covered future visits may have to be cancelled.I hope this goes some way to help spread out the cost of things.

School News

On Tuesday we had a very special visitor to our assembly. We welcomed Rabbi Irit from the Harlow Jewish Community. She came in to speak to us all about  Rosh Hashanah which is the Jewish New Year.

Rabbi Irit shared with us that Rosh Hashanah means 'head of the year' and how Jewish people believe that it was the time that the world was created. She shared how they celebrate the New Year, including sharing with us some very special artefacts and a song! Rabbit Irit also taught us how to say 'Happy New Year' in Hebrew, 'Shanah tovah'.'

Emily and Isabelle (Yr4) and Frieda (Yr 3)took part in the Dunmow Carnival on Saturday with their Brownie pack. They had a great time and helped collect money for the two charities Uttlesford Food Bank and Mind in West Essex.

They also loved seeing Luna as the Carnival Queen

Well done girls, this is fabulous, and well done to Luna as well :-)

Alfie travelled up to London with us last weekend. He did a drawing for the Queen and dictated what he wanted the words to say, tracing over my writing. Then he laid his drawing and flowers from his garden in Green Park along with thousands of other people. He stayed up in London all weekend and was even happy standing with the crowds to watch the queens procession.

We are very proud of you Alfie and all the other Rodings Children who paid their respects to Queen Elizabeth II
