Welcome Back!

It was a delight to get the Rodings family back together this week after, what I hope, was a restful and enjoyable summer holiday.

We had a brilliant assembly yesterday morning where we discussed the word ‘Commitment’ and what this means, looks like in real life and how we can apply this to our learning. We also discussed our Core Values, which are always good to revisit at the beginning of a new school year.

We are going to be spending the next few weeks reestablishing routines, developing a deeper understanding of learning and behaviour expectations and making sure that all the children have settled back into school well.

Baby News

As many of you would be aware, we were waiting in anticipation for the arrival of Miss Raban’s baby who arrived safely a few days after she left in July.  Baby Thomas and Miss Raban are doing really well. We all know how keen Miss Raban was to get to the end of term to say goodbye to her Year 6 class so Thomas made his mummy proud by hanging on a few more days. Clearly a very well-behaved child already!

I’m also delighted to announce that Miss Beard is expecting her first child which is due in December. Everyone at Rodings is so pleased for Miss Beard and her partner and I’m sure you will join me in congratulating Miss Beard on her fantastic news. I will announce maternity cover arrangements in due course once they have been finalised.

New staff

I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome some new staff to Rodings. Mrs Hodges has joined us as the class teacher for Woodpeckers. Miss Blatch will be supporting and teaching in Year 4 and Miss Read will be doing the same in Year 1. We can't wait to work with you and to get to know you more over the coming weeks. 

Parent Governor Vacancy

A space on our Governing Board has become available for a parent governor. A parent governor is elected by the parent community to sit on the board and support the strategic development of the school. Governors meet roughly once a month to discuss school finances, policies, development plans and to support the school's vision and aims.

If you are interested in this voluntary position, please get in contact with me (mr.raraty@rodingsprimary.co.uk) to have an initial discussion to discuss this opportunity in more detail. Please can I have any notifications of interest by Friday 18th September.

If more than one person is interested, then it will go to a parental vote.

It is a great way to support the school and the wider local community and make Rodings even better. 

Rodings Senior Leadership Team

With Miss Raban leaving us in July there has been a slight change in the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) at Rodings. The team now consists of the following:

Mr Colin Raraty – Headteacher

Mr Rob Jinkerson - Deputy Head

Mrs Annabel Brown - SENCo

Miss Emma Beard - EYFS and KS1 Phase Lead

Mrs Oakley - KS2 Phase Lead

Mrs Andrea Paget - School Business Manager

Each member of SLT has different responsibilities. They are: 

Mr Raraty - Safeguarding, Looked after Children, Teaching and Learning, Behaviour Management and Complaints.

Mr Jinkerson - Curriculum Development, PE, Educational Visits Co-ordinator, Behaviour Management

Mrs Brown - Strategic lead for coordinating support for children and families with additional and special needs. Mental health first aid.

Miss Beard - the day to day organisation and running of Early Years and KS1, monitoring the quality of provision within the Key Stage.

Mrs Oakley - the day to day organisation and running of Key Stage 2, monitoring the quality of provision within this Key Stage.

Mrs Paget - School finances, Office Management, Welfare and Allergy Awareness Lead.
