For the last week of this half-term, we have had an incredibly busy but exciting week.

Firstly, all the children have had an opportunity to work on our special art project 'Connections', in collaboration with our local churches. Hannah, a mosaic artist, has been diligently working away all week with groups of children creating the most beautiful piece of artwork. Based on the children's designs, the project is inspired by our community and local surroundings. The finished pieces will be installed over half-term and there will be a big reveal when we get back. Hannah has also been very complimentary of the children's engagement but also behaviour and politeness. Hannah has worked with many schools and said it is one of the best projects she has ever done because the children have been so brilliant.  Well done to all involved and more to follow after half-term.

Furthermore, we have been around the world curtesy of Mrs Scott and the Rodings Galley Kitchen. There has been a real buzz with children collecting their passport stamps and trying new food. The faces of children trying jalapeño peppers on Mexican Day was quite a sight! Mrs Scott has written a special report below.

Finally, Sports Day. More information will be shared after half-term. However, it was lovely to see the children engaging in so many activities this morning before the traditional picnic and races. House winners will be announced soon.

All that is left to say is thank you for your continued support this term, and we look forward to seeing you in June ready for the final term of this academic year.

Enjoy the nice weather!

????

What an incredible week on our Round the World Food Adventure!

 ????

Our children travelled the globe through taste this week and the response was amazing! Here’s how many enjoyed each country’s special dish:

???? Monday – Italy:
?? Lasagna – 178 children

???? Tuesday – Japan:
?? Teriyaki Chicken – 192 children

???? Wednesday – Mexico:
?? Chicken Tacos – 199 children

???? Thursday – America:
?? Hot Dogs – 203 children

The children absolutely loved exploring foods from around the world, trying new flavours, and learning about different cultures through food. ????

With an incredible 203 children choosing hot dogs, America was officially our most popular destination of the week! ??????

Thank you to everyone who joined us on this delicious journey — we can’t wait to see where our next food adventure takes us! ????

News from the Friends

Colour Run

Wow, what a fun event the Colour Run was, this is fast becoming a Rodings Favourite! We raised over £1000 and had a brilliant time doing it.

Thank you to all the volunteers especially the staff helpers who certainly took the brunt of the extra paint bags!!

Save the Date - Summer Fete – 13th June

This is the last event of the school year so please do save the date. We love to see as many as you as possible there.

You should have now received raffle tickets in your child’s bag. Please return any sold ticket stubs (along with the money) or unsold tickets by the 12th June. A list of all the prize is below.

This year we are introducing a new competition, The Roding “Hat Off”! Decorate a hat, display it at fete and be within a chance to win a prize. Please see the poster below for details.

As always, we need lots of wonderful volunteers in order make the day run smoothly. If you can spare any time at all, please email Friendsofrodings@gmail.com. We are essentially appealing to dads; in the morning of the fete we put lots of gazebos and have to move heavy things around and would really appreciate some extra height!!

Friday 12th June

In order to help our Summer Fete, the Friday before is always a non-uniform day. In exchange for wearing non-uniform we ask that all children bring in a contribution to the fete. We are asking all Goslings to bring in cakes for the Tea Tent (please no nuts and provide all the ingredients) and all other years to bring in a prize for the Tombola (only shiny and new please, nothing used). We will send more information in the run up to the event but this is just a heads up!
