Now that we are well and truly into the summer term, the diary becomes very busy with events and activities. The term can be summarised into three parts; assessment season, CREATE term and transition.

Very soon assessment season will be with us, with SATs week looming very soon, followed by phonics screening in Year 1 and the Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) for Year 4. Teachers and children are working hard in preparation for this and rehearsing the knowledge that they need to be successful in these assessments. As parents, please continue to support your child by reading daily, practising those phonics sounds and special friends and repeating times tables. Furthermore, provide encouragement and support when needed to make sure that they don't become overwhelmed.

Summer term also means that Rodings becomes very creative as we explore the arts and all they can offer us to enrich our lives and support our wellbeing. A great array of projects including music, drama, dance and visual art, will be filling the classrooms working with some great partners, such as Hip Hop Pop, The Drama Geezers and the Ten Parishes. All very exciting! And of course, R-Fest will be back to celebrate all the wonderful work produced.

Finally, we will be supporting the children as they transition into the new phases of their education. We will be welcoming our new families into Goslings as a variety of events over the next few months support the children into 'Big School'. We have already started transition work with secondary schools as our Year 6 children look forward to their exciting journey into secondary education. We will also be holding our annual class swap morning in July so that the children will get to know their new teachers. More information on this will be published after half-term.

As you can see, it will be a very busy but exciting term full of opportunities, special projects and new starts.

Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend!

Mr Raraty

Governors met in the second week of the Summer Term with the Full Governing Board. We were delighted to welcome our new parent governor, Nikki Gates, to the board.

Mr Raraty presented a detailed Headteachers report which included KS2 SATs expectations, a SEND update and a Premises/ Health and Safety update. The Safeguarding update included ‘Benedict’s Law’ which is a UK law requiring all schools in England to implement mandatory  allergy safety measures to protect children from life-threatening allergic reactions.

We discussed admissions for September 2026 and plans for transition and look forward to welcoming our new families to the school.

The attendance target was set for 2026-27 at 97% and the impact of absences on pupil attainment was discussed.

Rodings Primary School has been working on an exciting new art project with the Ten Parishes with the theme of ‘connections’. A mosaic artist has completed the initial launch which all children have taken part in to input their ideas. More exciting news on this to come very soon! Thank you to Mrs Deamer and Mrs Coates-Reynolds for their hard work to make this happen.

We then had several policies to agree and have a timetable of school visits, the next one is on 18th May focussing on Continuous Provision.

We would like to wish the Year 6 Kookaburras and Kingfishers the best of luck in their SATs in a couple of weeks. We hope you enjoy the Summer Term and all the lovely events planned! Thank you to all the fantastic staff at Rodings for their continued hard work and dedication.
