Parent Governor Election

We have a vacant position on the Governing Board for a Parent Governor.

We are looking for parents to come forward to fulfil this position. If you are interested, in the first instance, please contact me to arrange a meeting or call to discuss what the role entails in more detail. If more than one person expresses interest in the post, it will go to a parent vote.

Governors are volunteers, but there is an expectation to commit to a series of meetings and participate in governor visits and policy reading.

The Governing Board is an integral part of Rodings and provides support and challenge to make Rodings the best it can be.

Parent Governors are elected by parents but do not represent parents on the board. I can explain this in more detail if you are interested in the post.

We would be particularly keen to hear from people who have a financial background or equivalent understanding of business. However, if you are interested in this vacancy, but don't have that particular skill set, don't let that put you off coming forward.

The deadline for nominations is Friday 13th February and should be emailed to mr.raraty@rodinsgprimary.co.uk

Update from the Governors

On Monday 26th January the Full Governing Board met for the first time of 2026.

We started the meeting approving the minutes of the last meeting and discussing governor skills and training.

Mr Raraty gave us a full and detailed Headteachers report which included a SEND update, a Staff update, where we were told about the positive contribution Mr Timms has made in his role as Site Manager and a Safeguarding update where we discussed the use of AI and online safety.

We agreed the INSET days for 2026-2027.

We are very grateful for those parents who took part in the Road Map Parent Workshop. Your input is invaluable and you have given us lots to think about in preparing our next 3-year Strategic Plan. The year 1 outdoor space is almost complete and will be a lovely space for the children.

The data review for the Autumn Term was analysed and discussed and it is great to see amazing progress has been made across the board.

We then had several policies to agree and have a timetable of school visits in our diaries with the next one being on the 10 February where the focus will be on Maths.

Our next meeting will be the teaching and learning committee on 23 February.

We hope you have all settled well into the New Year and we thank Mr Raraty and all the staff for their continued hard work and commitment.

Michelle Nicoll

Parent Governor

This week year 3 went on a school trip at a museum (Fitzwilliam) to learn about ancient Egypt. The year 3 Class enjoyed looking at the tombs, the art gallery was a favourite, they loved drawing the sketches of the artifacts. On top of this their teachers got many wonderful comments on how well behaved they were! They would all definitely want to visit again. They would recommend this trip to anyone who is interested in ancient Egypt. All the amazing things they saw such as cool clothes, awesome armour and best of all the TOMBS! Everyone seemed to love and admire all of the Mummies. They enjoyed all of the artifacts. This trip was one to remember (even though the clothes were not everyone's cup of tea!)
