On Monday evening the Governing board met for the last time this calendar year. It’s been a busy autumn term where we have welcomed Miss Curtis, Mr Timms, Mrs Eccleshall and Mrs Moodie to the Rodings team, we wish them well in their new roles.
We started off the meeting by agreeing the minutes from the last meeting and then received the Headteacher's report from Mr Raraty, detailing information regarding every aspect of the school since our last meeting. We received data on school demographics, pupil numbers, attendance, SEND update and staffing numbers. We talked about the enrich days, Arts Mark, Rights Respecting, the ‘my happy mind’ parent app that is due to be sent out this week.
We are pleased to see that the playground gym trail has been installed with work to start shortly on the year 1 outdoor space, it is lovely to hear that the children are enjoying their new equipment. We would like to thank the ‘Friends’ for jointly funding this project, without the help from the ‘Friends’ the school would not be the place it is today.
We had reports and updates from both the finance committee who met at the end of November, where the five year plan was presented, and the Personnel committee, who met in October, to approve the pay and personnel policy for the coming year. All was well with both committees reporting no significant issues.
We then had several policies to agree and have a timetable of school visits in our diaries with the next one being on the 10th February where the focus will be on Maths. Governor training was also discussed as well as training sessions to attend over the coming year.
Governors not only have a monthly meetings and formal visits to the school, we also had the pleasure of being invited to watch the KS1 Nativity, which really was fantastic, a tribute to the children (and staff’s) hard work. But also we were invited to come to the Christmas fayre, the carol concert and join our classes for Christmas lunch, it was delicious!
We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of our children and their families, as well as all of the fantastic teachers and support staff a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to seeing everyone back in January, raring to go for the new spring term ahead.
