myHappymind NHS Video

We have been using My Happy Mind in school for a term now and we are ready to roll out the parent app. The parent app allows you to access some of the information, activities and resources that are being used in school, at home.  Next week, the children will be issued with a sticker which has a QR code and passcode to access the parent app. This sticker will be inside their reading record. We hope that this will help you to follow some of the techniques and support health and wellbeing at home.

Being apart of the local community is very important to use, and we have been looking at ways to expand our school so that it is used by the community outside normal school hours. We have been approached by Baby Ballers, a pre-school football group, that builds confidence, develops learning ability and also encourages an active lifestyle. Before we commit, we would like to gauge interest in providing something like this at Rodings. Below is a quick blurb and a link to the website explaining what Baby Ballers provide. The session would run on a Saturday morning. To express interest, with no commitment, please email Christian on the email address below. Please don't contact the school to register interest. Feel free to circulate this information to families who don't attend Rodings. Thank you!

Finally, I would like to say thank you to all the children and staff for the fantastic Nativity and Christmas Carols this week. It really does get everyone in the mood for Christmas as well as building lifetime memories.

You have also been very generous with your donations this year, with Mrs Paget and our Year 6 children shaking buckets and waving card machines. You have raised a staggering £1200 which will go towards the next stage of our playground development. Thank you so much for your generosity and support.

Have a lovely weekend!

Mr Raraty

KS2 Hockey Protective Equipment

In the spring term, Key Stage 2 will be playing hockey as part of their PE curriculum. Whilst this is taught in a controlled way, greatly minimising the risks, the very nature of the equipment (sticks and hard hockey balls) always carries the danger of injury.

England Hockey strongly recommends that all players wear shin pads and mouth guards when taking part in any hockey training session or match to reduce the chance of accidental injury. As a school, we also strongly recommend that your child wears this protective equipment.

There are a number of options available for both shin pads and mouth guards. Please note that the current trend of football "micro shin pads" would not cover enough of the leg to offer meaningful protection. For mouth guards, there are "boil and bite" guards such as the Opro Bronze as well as "snap-fit" guards, which offer less protection but are easier to fit.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the school.
