2 Johns Online Safety Parent Workshop

Last night's parent workshop by 'The 2 Johns' was a painful but necessary watch. The way that our children are accessing technology and the increasing influence of online personalities is having a profound impact on how our children view the world. Over 200 families across the the DEEP school attended the session and although that sounds alot, to put it into perspective, we have 201 families at Rodings.
Because of this the 2 Johns have agreed to share a recording of the session. The link will be active for 28 days but must not be stored in anyway.

Please take the time to watch this powerful session. The children at Rodings came top of a quiz run during their sessions. This was a quiz where they shoud have scored zero, so they do know a lot more than we suspect.

Mrs B and baby Felix

Mrs B paid us a visit this week to introduce baby Felix to the staff and children. He safely arrived just before we broke up for the summer holiday and all are doing well. Felix is already 12 weeks old and is growing fast! Congratulations to Mrs B and all her family. We wish them all the best!

Attendance Review

Last week, we had an attendance review which went really well. It was acknowledged that Rodings has an environment that children want to be in and feel safe. This contributes significantly to our good attendance rates. However, there were concerns from the local authority over the percnetage of children that are classed as persistent absentees (or attendance below 90%) as this is disproportionate to the rest of our other good attendance. This will be a focus going forward. I have attached the NHS guidance on illness and school attendance for parents as guidance. The first round of attendance letters will be sent out after half term. We really appreciate your support in maintaining good attendance in school. Thank you!

                                                    Have a lovely weekend!

                                                               Mr Raraty

Firework Night - Thursday 6th November

Save the date! Our fireworks night will be held on Thursday 6th November.

This is traditionally one of our biggest evets of the calendar and is only possible with the fantastic support of local businesses.

We would like to thank the companies who are already kindly sponsoring this event, but would like to ask if there are any others out there that would be able to support us? It makes a huge difference to our fundraising total and the money we can directly out back into the school to help the children.

If you can help us with sponsorship please get in touch by email: friendsofrodings@gmail.com
