Governing Board Report
On Monday evening the Governors met for the first time this academic year. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome all new families to Rodings.
At this point we form our committees and appoint Chairs and Vice-Chairs. We were delighted that Steph Green was appointed Chair of Governors with Leeann Goddard as Vice-Chair.
Each governor is linked to a class and these were confirmed together with links to other areas such as safeguarding, SEND, inclusion, training and attendance.
Mr Raraty delivered his update and it was acknowledged that attendance overall is currently good. We set an attendance target for the year at 97%. The Attendance Compliance Team will be visiting the school shortly to conduct their attendance review and we look forward to receiving their report.
We then had an update on the data from last year and were pleased that these results were broadly either in line or above the national average and there were upward trends emerging in many areas.
Further reports on safeguarding, SEND, premises and health and safety were received and works to the playground and outside areas were approved. These works will be undertaken in the coming months.
As part of our collaboration with DEEP we pleased to be able to have our own trainee teachers in local schools training through our own programme. There are currently eight students in the scheme with interest already being expressed for next year’s intake.
We had several policies to agree and have a timetable of school visits in our diaries as well as training sessions to attend over the coming year. Our school visits during the day are important for us to be able to monitor the curriculum and school in general.
We are all looking forward to the year ahead and to seeing the children engaged, happy and flourishing during their time with us.

Partnership Governor

I'm very excited to announce that Mrs Keeble is expecting her first child next spring. The Rodings team are delighted for Mrs Keeble, and her husband, and can't wait to meet Baby Keeble. Everyone at Rodings wishes Mrs Keeble all the best going forward.
Mrs Deamer will cover Mrs Keeble's maternity leave from February/March next year.
Online Safety with the Two Johns
As previously advertised, the Two Johns will be holding a virtual parents workshop on Thursday 16th October at 8pm. The session will cover the latest threats to children's technology and online use and how to support your child with online safety. This workshop is designed for all parents of primary aged children. This is such an important topic and I would strongly encourage you to attend. I will publish the link and codes required to access the session the day before on Class Dojo. The session will not be recorded.
Online safety is our generation's Stranger Danger. This is vital information for all parents, so please make arrangements to attend.
Have a lovely weekend!
Mr Raraty
