I can't believe we have reached the end of another academic year! We have had such a full and enriching year, squeezing in so many different activities, events and opportunities into the calendar.

Yesterday's Leavers Assembly was a truly special occasion. Saying goodbye to Toucan's class was always going to be difficult as they had built an amazingly strong bond with each other. However, they have exciting adventures ahead, and they are so ready to take on their next chapter. We are going to miss you so much but the whole Rodings community wishes you all the best for the future.

It is also that time of year when we celebrate the various achievements of individuals by awarding a variety of trophies and awards in recognition of everyone's hard work and successes. Below is a list of nominees and winners. Congratulations to everyone!

Summer Term Effort Cup

The overall winners were:
EYFS/KS1: Oisin Daly
KS2: Joshua Pinnock

Reading Trophy

Rodings Galley - Manners Cup

Trophies

As well as saying 'Goodbye' to Toucan class, there are some members of staff that will be leaving us this term.

Firstly, a huge 'thank you' needs to go to Mrs Gates, who has looked after Kingfisher class over the last year. They have had a great year and I know Mrs Hutley has enjoyed her time with her too.

We are also saying goodbye to some of our support staff, including Ms Bacon, Miss Fuller, Mrs Wade. Thank you for all your hard work whilst you have been at Rodings.

Miss Daley is also leaving us as she goes off to train as a secondary school teacher. Everyone at Rodings wishes you all the best as you embark on your training. You will be amazing!

Gardening Club Award

Well done to our amazing Gardening Club - we heard this week that we have just been awarded Level 1, 2 & 3 of the RHS School Gardening Awards!  We are so grateful to Penny Frost & her team of dedicated helpers who have enabled us to get these awards.

Finally, I would like to say a huge 'thank you' to all the amazing staff at Rodings. You are a pleasure to collaborate with and contribute to making Rodings a very special place to work.

To all our families, your support and encouragement continues to be amazing and that is why we are able to do so much. Whether it is through your support of the Friends of Rodings (see their amazing fundraising efforts later on in the newsletter) or supporting your child to get to events or hearing then read at home. Your efforts are greatly appreciated!

And to the children, you have made this year full of joy, laughter and smiles. You are the reason why we do what we do!

Have a safe, relaxing and joyful summer. We look forward to seeing you refreshed and raring to go on Wednesday 3rd September.

Mr Raraty

Year 3/4 Girls Football Festival
Year 5/6 Hockey
Year 5/6 Girls Football Festival

KS2 Athletics

In school, we have all taken part in the USSP challenges as well as Inter-House Cross Country, Cricket and Sports Day!

As a result, for 2024-25, Rodings has been awarded a Gold School Games Mark!

Many of these events couldn’t have taken place without the support of you, our wonderful parents. Thank you for providing transport, for driving out as far as Newport and Saffron Walden, for supporting on the sidelines, and for waiting patiently when you weren’t allowed to! Your help has allowed us to offer so much sport to our children this year, so thank you; we hope we can continue to expand this next year!

A final thank you also needs to go my amazing Year 6 Sports Captains: Felicity, Abi, Bobby, Gavin, Isla, Max, Leo and Arthur. They’ve helped run all of our in-house sports events this year and have worked so well at supporting our younger children through these: definitely future coaches in the making!

Mr Jinkerson

Rock and pop band lessons with Rocksteady

Did you know, we partner with Rocksteady Music School to deliver fun and inclusive rock and pop band lessons, right here at Rodings!

These weekly music lessons take place in school and are led by professional musicians who make learning music fun.  It’s the perfect way for children to learn new musical skills, make friends and have a great time – all at school!
Rocksteady lessons are also shown to amplify confidence, wellbeing and social skills.

Here’s what else you need to know:

• There’s no experience necessary and all instruments for lessons are provided.
• Watch as your child performs in their end of term concerts, showing just how far they have come.
• Children learn up to 300 instrument, band, and performance skills, whilst playing songs they love.
• Children can achieve an Ofqual-regulated Music qualification, accredited by Trinity College London, without
having to take a single exam.
• You’ll receive regular progress updates, including photos and videos.
There’s a money-back guarantee for the first month and you can cancel at any time. Places are offered on a first come, first served basis.

Sign your child up for band lessons online at rocksteadymusicschool.com/parents
