Parent Survey Results

Back in November,  we asked you to complete our annual parent survey. Once again, we are delighted by the results and the positive comments shared with us. We had the most written comments we have ever received, which is a testament to the support we have from parents and your keenness to support and get involved with the school. However, there is always room for improvement and the constructive comments you made will be taken on board when writing our next school development plan.

I would like to offer a follow-up meeting for parents to have further input on some of the suggestions made. I will also reply to some of the most popular questions raised in the survey. Consequently, I will be running a parents' workshop on Thursday 27th February at 7pm in the school hall.

Football Cards and other collector cards

Children should not be bringing these cards to school. We have seen an increase in the number of cards coming into school for swapping. Unfortunately, this has led to a number of arguments and misunderstandings that have taken a long time to resolve. Please keep these cards at home. Thank you!

The High Easter Educational Charity

This week, we have been considering our mental health as part of Children's Mental Health Week: this year's theme is "Know Yourself, Grow Yourself". On Monday, the children took part in a live-streamed assembly with The School of Kindness where they learnt about what mental health is, why it’s important and the many different ways we can improve our mental health.
On Wednesday, Mrs Coates-Reynold led an assembly on mindful breathing where the child listened to the story "My Magic Breath"; some classes carried out art projects based on this story.
On Thursday, each class took part in a yoga session to help give the children strategies to relax and stay calm.

Next week, we will be looking at our Online Safety as part of Safer Internet Day. This year's theme looks at protecting ourselves from scams and fakes online. The children will take part in Key Stage appropriate assemblies, and will continue to look at this in more detail in their classes across the week.

USSP Swimming Gala

On Friday 17th January, 35 children from Key Stage 2 went to Helena Romanes Leisure Centre to compete in the Uttlesford School Sports Partnership swimming gala against 6 other schools from Dunmow and Stansted. Our children were, as ever, a real credit to our school, representing us brilliantly!

Overall, our year 5/6 team finished 3rd, and the year 3/4 team finished 2nd!

In addition, there were some really strong individual performances and we had 12 children who won their races!

Well done everyone!

USSP Year 3/4 Tag Rugby

This afternoon, 10 children from Doves and Hummingbirds braved the cold to compete in the USSP tag rugby tournament hosted by Dunmow St Mary's. Despite playing in sleet and hail, the children performed brilliantly in their four games. Unfortunately, the weather got the better of us and the tournament finished early, just as we'd started winning matches! We'll keep you posted of any plans to complete the competition.

Well done: Damien, Eliot, Ernie, Albie, Finn, Mollie, Annie, Chloe, Verity and Carys!
