Over the next few days the children will come home with a postcard with a question we would like you to answer as a family. The questions relate to creativity and the arts at home. We are going to use the returned postcards to inform our plans for the arts in school and towards our Artsmark accreditation.

It is up to you how you respond to the question. It can be a written response or you may want  to get creative and draw or paint a reply. However, you choose to respond, your answers will be greatly appreciated.

Please return completed postcards by Friday 18th October

Christmas Card Competition

Sticking with the creative theme, we are working in collaboration with our local church to design their annual Christmas card. Reverend Stone is asking for designs to be on A4 paper using pencil, paint or crayon. The theme is ‘The Nativity’. This is a great project to get involved with. We have some fantastic artists at Rodings and it would be great for one of our pupils to create the winning design.

The closing date is the 4th November, so a brilliant half term project. All entries can be handed into the school office.

Full details are contained in a poster further on in the newsletter.

Raising Concerns

From time to time, you may have a query about your child’s learning or friendships in school. The first point of contact should be the class teacher as they will have the most relevant information about your child’s progress or about an issue that has arisen in school. This can be escalated to our senior leadership team if need be. I have attached an infographic to explain this procedure in more detail.

Always get in touch if you have a concern. Our doors are always open.

Whatever you are doing, have a lovely weekend!

??

This week at Forest School ...

We've had a busy couple of weeks in the forest!! Year 2 had a lovely time toasting apple on the fire last week, and this week we took the Goslings for their first visit to the forest ! They all got stuck in straight away and had such a fab time exploring, making dens and swinging on the rope swing !

Message from our Friends

AGM

We held our annual AGM on Tuesday (1st October). The turnout was good – thank you to all those who attended.

Mr Raraty led the meeting with a summary of the year's fundraising events. As always, we are very grateful to all those who attended and donated over the year. The success of the events would not be the same without your support.

Our Treasurer (Mel Parradine) gave us a detailed summary of the year’s finances, outlining our spending and funds generation for the year 2023/2024. The total generated for the school year 2023/2024 was £16,400. Funds were spent on Early Years technology & an outside shelter, forest school equipment, playground equipment as well as a donation to the school towards a new classroom.

Mel’s children have now left the school and so she is stepping down as Treasurer. Mel has been an absolute asset to the Friends over the years. Her legacy will carry on with the knowledge she has shared and the procedures she has put in place. Mel will be truly missed!

In other sad news, Jenny Juttner has decided to step down as Chair after four years at the helm. Thankfully, Jenny has decided to stay on as a member of the Friends committee so we can still call upon her for her amazing depth of knowledge,

Jenny has been instrumental in turning around Friends events since COVID stopped everything taking place. Her legacy will live on through all the events but especially through the colour run which was imagined and executed (almost) solely by Jenny.

New members were then elected. The named members are:

Co-chairs: Lucy Reeve & Rosie Radford

Treasure: Jane James

Secretary: Laura O’Keefe

We were also very pleased to welcome two new members of the Friends committee on the night.
