Issue Number: 85

To all parents and carers,

The governing board met for the last time this academic year on Monday 8th July. We welcomed Sam Kilpatrick who joins us as our new staff governor. Sadly we said goodbye to John Hildrew who has been a governor with us for over eight years, kindly staying on for an extra ten months whilst we filled some governor vacancies. John has been particularly active on our finance committee and we will miss him greatly. Good luck John with your new adventures!

Mr Raraty filled us in on the staffing structure for September and we wish all staff the very best in their new or continuing roles. We are all very sad that Mrs Simpkins will be leaving Rodings at the end of this term as she has made a huge contribution to the school and especially to Forest School since it was started over 15 years ago. We will also soon be saying goodbye to our year 6 children and hope that with the strong foundations laid at Rodings, they are all looking forward to new and exciting challenges at secondary school. Do keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on!

Collaboration with the other schools in our local partnership (DEEP – Dunmow Excellence in Education Partnership) is very strong and new initiatives have been trialled, with more new ideas planned for our teaching staff across the schools next year.

Governors were encouraged to see that the key actions in this year’s School Development Plan have been completed and the plans for next year were discussed.

Finally we considered several data points, reviewed and approved policies, agreed the residential visit for next year and finalised dates for next year’s meetings and governor visits to school.

As this academic year draws to a close, the governors would like to thank all the staff, parents and pupils for your continued support for our wonderful school and we hope that you all have a fantastic and exciting summer.

????

This week at Forest School...Double Edition!

Last week, the Goslings took part in the First Annual Woodlympic Games! Events included Mudslinging, Hoopla and Slacklining, the Goslings were awesome at them all, of course! Then we made our own medals, forest school style!

And this week was Invite the Grownups week! It was lovely to see so many come along and see all the things we get up to at Forest School, and the Goslings were very proud to show them around.  We made Hapa Zome butterflies, toasted marshmallows and made s'mores around the fire.

And lastly, I just wanted to say thankyou to Goslings for being so amazing! I have had the best year with you, I really couldn't've asked for a better class for my first year as a Forest School Leader!
