Swifts - Year 2 - Miss Parker

Wrens - Year 2 - Mrs Rigby

Woodpeckers - Year 3 - Miss Wattis

Doves - Year 4 - Miss Raban and Mr Crawley (1 day a week)

Hummingbirds - Year 4 - Mrs Oakley and Mr Crawley (1 day a week)

Kingfishers - Year 5 - Mrs Gates and Mrs Hutley

Kookaburras - Year 5 - Miss Yiu

Toucans - Year 6 - Mr Jinkerson

Mrs Deamer will be supporting KS1 two days a week.

Mrs Coates-Reynolds will continue to provide teacher cover three days a week.

The children will have the opportunity to meet their new teachers on Thursday 18th July. They will spend the morning getting to know each other and setting expectations for the new academic year.

Uniform

Earlier in the year we announced changes to the uniform policy from September 2024.

We are in a transition period from book bags to backpacks. Children can continue to use their book bags until they need replacing. School backpacks are available from Create Identitee. In line with the rest of the uniform policy, parents do not have to purchase any logoed uniform but can purchase a plain black backpack with no logo instead from an alternative retailer.

Toucans will be the final year to have a choice over a bag but it must not be a handbag and must be a reasonable size that doesn’t take up lots of space.

We are also adding skorts to the school’s PE kit. These will be available on Create Identitees website soon, but again, they can be purchased from other retailers too.

Parent Survey Results

Below is a summary of the results from our parent survey conducted in the spring term. They have been discussed as part of our recent Governors' meeting, and I am pleased to provide you with the results.

We take the feedback we receive from parents seriously and will add appropriate aspects of the feedback to next year’s school development plan.

In the Autumn term, I will hold a parents' workshop to investigate some of these areas further.

Have a lovely weekend!

Mr R

☀️Summer Fete Raffle☀️

We are extremely pleased to announce that we are able to REOPEN raffle sales and will now draw the winners on FRIDAY 19th JULY at 12pm

Due to the last minute closure of the summer fete as a result of adverse weather, many people were not able to buy raffle tickets for this years draw as planned. We hope that the new raffle draw date will allow people to continue to buy tickets and help to support the school in our fundraising efforts. Raffle tickets will be available to buy in the school office, or you can email friendsofrodings@gmail.com and request tickets to be sent home with your child. We will announce the winners on Friday 19th July!

🙌

♻️Used Uniform Sale♻️

We will be running a used uniform sale during pick up on Friday 5 July! We have lots of lovely pre-loved items looking for a new home so do stop by and grab yourself a bargain whilst also helping to reduce, reuse and recycle!

On Wednesday afternoon, 32 children from Key Stage 2 went to Carver Barracks athletics track to compete in the Uttlesford Schools Sports Partnership (USSP) athletics competition. The children competed in a variety of events: 50m, 75m, 200m, 600m, relay, standing long jump, howler throw, turbo javelin and triple jump.

While we weren't podium finishers as a school, year 5/6 were placed 3rd out of all the large schools!

We also had some notable individual performances:

Albie- 1st, year 3 200m

Luka- 2nd, year 3 standing long jump

Ralph- 3rd, year 3 howler throw

Grace- 1st, year 4 howler throw

Isaac- 1st, year 4 50m

Mason- 1st, year 4 howler throw

Felicity- 1st, year 5 75m

Abi- 2nd, year 5 600m and 2nd, year 5 standing long jump

Max- 3rd, year 5 triple jump

Dexter- 2nd, year 5 howler throw

Giselle- 1st, year 6 75m and 1st, year 6 standing long jump

Rhalou- 1st, year 6 600m and 2nd, year 6 triple jump

Amber- 3rd, year 6 howler throw

Finley- 3rd, year 6 javelin

Seamus- 2nd, year 6 triple jump

Fynnton, 1st, year 6 600m and 2nd, year 6 howler throw

Year 3 boys relay- 3rd

Year 5 girls relay- 1st

Year 6 girls relay- 3rd

Year boys relay- 1st

Last, and by no means least, Giselle not only achieved double first place results in her two events, but she also set a new USSP record for the Girls 75m! She is now the record holder until next years' event at least; what an achievement!

We're so proud of all of our athletes who represented our school so brilliantly, well done everyone!

Dear Rodings families, we would be really grateful for donations of the following items for a couple of projects we have coming up at Forest School:

🌳 Any old white cotton sheets

🌳 Bits and pieces suitable for adding to the bug hotel - bits of bamboo, old roof tiles, broken plant pots, pine cones, straw - anything that would be good for encouraging bugs to move in !

Thankyou in advance ,

Mrs George
