Each year the school receives additional funds to help disadvantaged children. The aim is to close the gap with their peers so that they have better life chances in the future. This money is called the Pupil Premium Grant. It is up to the school how this money is spent, but it must be used to 'close the gap'. Below is the draft Pupil Premium Strategy Statement for 2021/22, outlining what the grant will be spent on and what impact this had on learners.
Summary of the main barriers to learning:
- Reading ability and fluency, including access to no or poor quality texts at home.
- Lack of resources at home to further their own learning.
- Limited 'doorstep' resources and support to inspire the love of learning. You have to travel everywhere in the Rodings!
- Low self-esteem and confidence
