Year 5 Speed Stop

Year 5 Parrots and Penguins did a speed watch on the 22/9/2022. Most year 5’s said they quite enjoyed it.

Police Officers came into school to work with the two year 5 classes. They were taken out in small groups where the officers used a speed gun to measure the speed of passing cars outside the school. Drivers who were travelling too fast were pulled over and invited to answer questions from the children such as: how would you feel if you hit or killed me when speeding and are you aware that you are speeding?

32 cars passed by. There was a man who got in his car and kept changing clothes. One driver tried to evade being pulled over but got stopped again. The highest speed was a man who was going 52 miles per hour on a motorbike who received a fine.

The year 5’s said that they felt scared at first and some felt mad.
