Our curriculum is linked by twenty-four carefully chosen concepts, that are at the heart of all the work going on in our classrooms. Concepts are chosen for each term and allow students to make connections to other subjects and other topics they have studied across their time at Rodings.
Concepts are the connectedness of our curriculum. Concepts are the 'Big Ideas' and the starting point for when we plan units of work, in all subjects. Concepts allow us all to see our curriculum in wider perspective.

The concepts are carefully mapped out across our topics so that children encounter them a number of times, in different subjects, in different topics, in different year groups. In order to make this clear we are creating 'Concept Pathways', which clearly explain how the concept is introduced to the children each time it is encountered in our curriculum. Below is an example:
